Reggie Uluru is a senior artist with Walkatjara Arts in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. As a well-known traditional owner of Uluru, Reggie took part in the official handback by the Australian Federal Government in 1985.

First world-wide viewing! We’re really happy to finally share our Tjakuranyatjara (about Great Desert Skink) animated film. To launch it, here is a message from Mutitjulu community leader, Sammy Wilson. “This is a record made of the Great Desert Skink…for we younger ones to understand so we can care for them. It has involved the rangers so they can protect them through their work. In English you might say this is ‘very important’ because even though they are tiny animals, they hold their own law and culture. Since ancient times people have looked after them and while in the past they were eaten, nowadays we want to make sure they are protected.” The team included animator and director Jonathan Daw, narrating by elders Malya Teamay & Daisy Walkabout, a strong group of young Mala Ranger girls who modelled and painted skinks and mulgara, Walkatjara artists and staff, & great support and translating by Parks Australia Rangers & Kathy Tozer. The Inma (singing) by senior knowledge-holder Mrs Josephine Mick, provides an important source of learning for future generations of Anangu.
