The main languages spoken in the community are Pitjantjatjara and Yangkunytjatjara.
Anangu welcome visitors to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, but they appreciate their privacy while at home. Therefore, Mutitjulu is a closed community and access is by permit or permission only.
Permits and/or permission must be organised in advance through the Mutitjulu Community Aboriginal Corporation (MCAC).
In the Uluru region, the local tribe are named the Anangu people. Dating back more than 60,000 years, the Anangu culture has always been a vital part of Central Australian life. Anangu Tjukurpa teach that the landscape was formed as their ancestral beings moved across the barren land.
To the traditional owners of the land, Uluru is incredibly sacred and spiritual, a living and breathing landscape in which their culture has always existed. According to Australian indigenous cultural beliefs, Uluru was created in the very beginning of time.
